Getting started with AetherScripts is straightforward. This guide walks you through the complete setup process for both the Rust Script and the R6 Script — from purchase to your first game. Most users are up and running in under five minutes.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have the following:
- A Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC (AetherScripts does not support macOS or Linux)
- Rust or Rainbow Six Siege installed and updated to the latest version
- An active AetherScripts license key (purchase from the Rust or R6 product page)
- Administrator access on your PC
- Your antivirus software ready to be temporarily disabled
Step-by-Step Setup: Rust Script
Step 1 — Purchase and Receive Your Key
Visit the Rust Script page and choose your plan (weekly, monthly, or lifetime). After payment, your license key will be delivered to your email and available in your account dashboard. Copy this key — you will need it during activation.
Step 2 — Create a Loader Account
Go to aetherloader.com and create an account. This is a separate account from the store — it is used specifically for the loader and build system. Use a valid email address as you may need it for support.
Step 3 — Activate Your License
In the loader dashboard, enter your license key. Your subscription timer starts at activation, not at purchase, so you can buy in advance without losing time. Once activated, the key is bound to your account.
Step 4 — Download the Loader
Download the AetherScripts loader from the loader dashboard. Save it to a location you can easily find — your desktop works fine.
Step 5 — Disable Antivirus
Temporarily disable your antivirus software (Windows Defender, Norton, Malwarebytes, etc.). The loader uses low-level system hooks that trigger false positives. This is expected and safe. You can re-enable your antivirus after the build is generated. For more details on why this happens, see our FAQ.
Step 6 — Run the Loader
Right-click the loader and select Run as administrator. The loader will authenticate your license, check for the latest version, and generate a unique build for your machine. This process takes between 15 seconds and 2 minutes depending on your system and internet connection.
Step 7 — Launch Rust
For Rust, run the loader first, then launch the game. Once you are in-game, the script is active. You will see the AetherScripts menu overlay where you can configure settings, adjust sensitivity, and toggle features.
Step 8 — Configure Your Settings
Open the AetherScripts menu and set your DPI and in-game sensitivity to match your actual hardware and game settings. This calibration step is critical — incorrect values will result in over-correction or under-correction of recoil patterns. Once set, these values are saved for future sessions.
Step-by-Step Setup: R6 Script
The R6 Siege setup follows the same general process with one key difference in launch order.
Step 1 through Step 5
Identical to the Rust setup above. Purchase from the R6 Script page, create a loader account, activate your key, download the loader, and disable antivirus.
Step 6 — Launch R6 Siege First
For R6 Siege, launch the game first and wait until you reach the main menu. This is the opposite of Rust — the R6 script requires the game to be running before the loader connects.
Step 7 — Run the Loader
With R6 at the main menu, run the loader as administrator. It will detect the running game, authenticate, and generate your unique build. The script activates automatically once the build is ready.
Step 8 — Configure Settings
Same as Rust — set your DPI and in-game sensitivity in the AetherScripts menu. R6 Siege has different sensitivity scaling than Rust, so make sure you enter the values specific to your R6 settings.
Configuring Sensitivity and Recoil Settings
Proper sensitivity calibration is the difference between a script that feels perfect and one that feels off. Here is how to get it right:
- DPI — enter the exact DPI your mouse is set to. If you are unsure, check your mouse software (Logitech G Hub, Razer Synapse, etc.)
- In-game sensitivity — enter the sensitivity value from the game's settings menu, not a custom multiplier
- ADS sensitivity — if the game has a separate aim-down-sight sensitivity multiplier, enter that as well
- Recoil strength — start at 100% and adjust down if the compensation feels too strong. Most users find 90-100% optimal
After setting these values, test in a practice server or training mode. Fire a full magazine at a wall and observe the grouping. Adjust recoil strength in small increments until the spray is tight but not suspiciously perfect.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Antivirus Flags or Quarantine
If your antivirus deletes or quarantines the loader, you need to add an exception for the loader file before downloading it again. In Windows Defender, go to Virus & Threat Protection > Manage Settings > Exclusions and add the folder where you save the loader. Then re-download and try again.
DLL Errors on Launch
If you see missing DLL errors, install the latest Visual C++ Redistributable and .NET Runtime from Microsoft. These are common dependencies that some Windows installations do not include by default.
Authentication Failures
If the loader fails to authenticate, double-check that your license key is entered correctly and that it has been activated on aetherloader.com. Keys are case-sensitive. If the problem persists, your key may be expired — check your subscription status in the loader dashboard.
Script Not Activating In-Game
For Rust: make sure you ran the loader before launching the game. For R6 Siege: make sure the game was at the main menu before running the loader. If the order is reversed, close everything and start the process over.
Recoil Compensation Feels Wrong
Verify your DPI and in-game sensitivity values are entered correctly in the AetherScripts menu. Even a small discrepancy will cause noticeable over-correction or under-correction. If values are correct, try adjusting recoil strength by 5% increments.
